Please be aware that this piece contains references to assault

It was coarse and rough on the beach

But softer than you

You were tailing

Voice drowned by the waves

For the ocean is a woman's domain

The wave swallowed

Me whole, along with you

The unwelcome grain in the oyster

ree

An abrasive force that hums

That there would be no pretty pearl without it

Just us, it would seem

Till the tide draws in and the hands begin

To claw at my back

No, they claw at you back

For me, whilst a soft grip latches

Waves swaying me to sleep

ree

I am one of the many

Delivered to the sea

There are too many

Who have run like me

Your cyanide seafoam mouth

Is the beauty of Venus

And underneath

I can finally breathe

I’m not saying I’d stab you whilst you sleep

But given the choice

I’d trade my legs for a tail

And drown you in the deep
