Meet the students who advocate for us through meetings, events, and more.

William John Francis

Postgraduate Representative

An insurance broker and financial analyst who builds ventures with surgical focus on risk, capital efficiency, and disciplined growth. He blends technical underwriting insight with market strategy, preferring evidence over hype and execution over theory while pursuing scalable, defensible businesses across insurance, finance, and emerging commercial opportunities globally.

Aynaz Abdi

International Student Representative

I’m a first-year Psychology student and International Student Representative who genuinely loves connecting with people and hearing their stories. As an international student, I care deeply about belonging, wellbeing, and inclusion. I’m passionate about creating supportive spaces where students feel seen, heard, and empowered to thrive at university.

Kerem Teoman

Deputy Chair of SRC

I’m Kerem, a 20-year-old Bachelor of Business student at Macquarie University. I play football and field hockey, and I’m part of the Business Society. Outside of classes and sport, I spend time with friends and notice how social media and comparisons shape the way students feel about themselves.

Mary-Anne King

Women’s Representative

Just a girl who loves photography and spending time in the water kayaking and swimming! As much as I love the outdoors, I also love spending time indoors cooking up a meal or in bed doing arts & crafts and reading.

Elisha James

The Chair of the SRC, Faculty Rep for the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences

Always down for an adventure, an enthusiastic crier and a dog lover (being away from my dog Flash makes life in Sydney so tough). I love travelling, chatting, trying new food and saying yes to spontaneous plans. I care deeply, feel everything and tend to overcommit- but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Mara Melanie (Ella) Perez-Donaire

Disability Representative

I am an artist, thespian, ultramarathoner, cyclist, photographer, graphic artist, editor, content creator, journalist, emcee, and parish lector, bringing creativity, endurance, and discipline to my work. I am also an industrious teacher who designs engaging curricula, fosters inclusive learning environments, and demonstrates skills in classroom management, lesson planning, and technology.

Amy Baran

Arts Faculty Representative

I’m Amy, I’m a socialist activist on campus. You’ll often see me getting the word out about left-wing protests and events. I organised the StopMQCuts campaign against cuts to our subjects and staff, and with Students For Palestine, I’ve been calling for MQ to cut ties with weapons companies.

Julius Bommers

Faculty of Science and Engineering Representative

I am a 4th year Mechatronics Engineering student. In 2024, I travelled to Nevada with MQ Speed to compete in the World Human Powered Speed Challenge. I also play soccer as a defender.

Will Thomas

LGBTQIA+ Representative

Hiya! I'm a second-year, easy-going guy who loves to have fun. I love hiking and late-night adventures, and am always down to try something new. I also love F1, and I go for McLaren, specifically Lando (sorry Oscar), and my favourite race is Miami. I'm excited to be in this role and hope to help bring great things to our uni!

Whitney Mueller

Sports Representative

Passionate about sport for students to thrive during their university experience. I play semi-elite netball for the Swifts Academy and like to hike and go to the beach with my friends in my spare time.

Annalise Hanger

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Representative

I am a proud Yorta Yorta woman and am very passionate about making change for other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In particular, making change within the out-of-home care system. My role within the SRC is prioritising and voicing the needs, cultural safety and wellbeing of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at Macquarie University.

Sarah Steele

Higher Degree Research Representative

My name is Sarah Steele, and I’m a PhD candidate in the Department of Linguistics and a staff member at Macquarie University. As the Higher Degree Research representative on the SRC, I advocate for a more equitable, inclusive, and supportive university environment. I’m particularly passionate about making parking more affordable and accessible, and ensuring students and staff feel heard and supported, especially considering recent curriculum changes. If you have any ideas or concerns, big or small, I’d love to hear from you!

Pedro Roh

Student Member on Council

Hi, I'm Pedro, a Korean-born, Australian-raised member of SRC with a Spanish name. I'm working tirelessly on improving the parking situation on campus and improving safety.  Last year I worked on improvements with campus lighting and our professional headshot service, but we still have a long way to go.  Reach out to the SRC if there's some issue on campus we can work to improve together!
