Nicole, What Have You Done To Me?

2 min read

She is the rays gifting warmth to the day

And she is the shiver down winter’s spine

She is a storm sweeping floods through the valley

And she is flames dancing in the night

She is the twinkle in the first star

In a sea of deceitful satellite links

She is the rope that tugs me to shore

She bathes in the tears back I blink

She is a teapot lovingly emptying

Her warmth into each little cup

She is a teapot burning and emptying

Her soul till she’s left with one drop

She is filled pages locked with a key

She holds every whispered regret

She is fresh water after drowning at sea

Relief my tongue could never forget

She is a box full of buttons and glitter

I rummage in wonder and awe

She is the moment the sun kisses the rain

The most beautiful colours anyone ever saw

She is all that is precious and good

She gives everyday a new life

I see her in every person I meet

She sees me through every strife

Of the many gifts I’ve received in this world

She is the most treasured of all

More rare and more beautiful than any diamond or pearl

After months of drought, she is rainfall

No colour we see with our human eyes

Could capture the light that she brings

The most curious, thoughtful, intelligent girl

Sweeter than any melody I could ever sing

They say that another shouldn’t make us complete

That we should be whole on our own

But ‘without you’ is a fate I could never bear to meet

The girl whose heart is my home
