Power Up

You hit me like a power up.

I levelled up

the moment that we lay our backs

upon the sand

saw the shooting stars above,

knew it was love.

Schoolies,

whoever knew that it would lead to you and me?

At the table playing games I could have sworn I

saw a nervous twinkle in those midnight brown eyes

but I’d never ever known you to be so shy.

It kinda made me think there was a reason why…

We lay by the ocean.

It swirled, magic potion.

Boosted emotion,

I changed, evolution,

expanding horizons,

sunrise and soul rising.

Someone to confide in.

Pandora’s box

can keep its locks.

Why should I open

when I’m already hoping?

When you’re with me

I’m flying, free.

Cancellation fee?

Doesn’t bother me.

Never checking out,

I've got no doubt.

Cannot get bored of this

love metamorphosis,

change for the better

until I’m a butterfly

‘cause your compliments

give me confidence

and when I’m with you,

it just all makes sense.

I knew you weren’t a summer fling.

Autumn passed to winter, spring,

and hey, guess what? We’re four years in,

I’m feeling like I’ve won, I win.

No longer butterflies within,

They’ve turned to fairies on my skin.

A shy girl once but now I sing

of heartbeats like an angel’s wing.

Arms entwined, I’ll ever cling,

to treasure worthy of a king.

There’s only one I’d ever pick:

it’s always you, my darling Nick.
